"Living a healthy and active lifestyle is a choice my wife and I have made for our family. Together we have been mindful in providing our children with opportunities which foster a love for living a healthy and active lifestyle. I have always been an avid runner and have found running to be therapeutic. I cherish the time I spend training with my teenage son on the beautiful Illinois bike trails. When my children were younger, I volunteered my time as a soccer coach for many years. I am proud to be a four time Chicago Marathon Finisher, an Ironman 70.3 Monterrey Finisher and Ironman 70.3 Steelhead Finisher. As a coach, I have the unique opportunity to share this message with other families and their children. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to share my love for swimming, biking, running, and adopting a healthy lifestyle with the children I coach. Assisting in the growth these small athletes make physically and mentally in a season is my reward. The opportunity to watch a child’s self-confidence blossom into a young athlete however is personally inspiring! My future goals include completing the Chicago Marathon for the fifth time in Fall 2017, complete a full Ironman within the next few years, and share in my love of marathon running with my children as soon as they are old enough to participate!" Coach Joel Preciado
"I have always enjoyed being active, from playing in team sports to mountain biking and golf. With adulthood came a shift in focus, and family and my career as Chief Engineer at Millennium Park took priority. In that change I missed the competiveness and camaraderie of organized sports. After taking some time off, I with my wife resolved to lead a more active and healthy lifestyle. I took up running and it was a great start and introduction to endurance sports with Ironman being the ultimate goal. I completed my first sprint triathlon in 2011 and have since continued to train, compete, and learn. There is something about being outdoors, breathing fresh air and pushing your body to set the bar higher each time that is addicting! My primary goal is to pass on my love of the sport while developing the talent and character of our young athletes." Experience - Assistant Soccer Coach for U-10 - 3x Ironman 70.3 Finisher - Chicago Marathon Finisher - Sprint & Olympic Distance Triathlons |
