The 4th Annual Garfield Ridge Stars & Stripes 5K will be be in Honor of:

Paul grew up in Gage Park and attended St. Clare of Montefalco Grammar School and St. Ignatius High School. He went on to Northern IL University and studied Finance. Shortly after he graduated, he took the police exam and started with the Chicago Police Dept in 1986. Paul served in many capacities within the Department. Much of his time was with the Mounted Unit. He served there as a patrolman, a sergeant and finally the lieutenant in charge. Around this time, he went back to school for his Masters in Public Administration.
Paul was promoted to Commander and was with the 018 District at the time of his death.
Paul lived in Bridgeport with his wife and daughter.
Commander Paul Bauer paid the ultimate sacrifice while attempting to arrest a subject near City Hall on February 13, 2018.
Commander Bauer had served with the Chicago Police Department for 32 years and served as commander of the 018th District. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
